Believe it or not, this is the best Christmas picture we got this year. Everyone was actually enjoying taking it, so I decided to use it.
I got most of my Christmas shopping finished this weekend! I'm so excited, seeing as how I started out without the first gift even written on my list. Matt let me go for 2 days and "knock it out" as he puts it. I contemplated all bundling up as a family and hitting the mall...buying coffee, watching people, eating lunch together, the boys riding on Matt's shoulders and laughing gleefully at the wonder of family fun, taking pictures with Old St Nick, buying gifts for all of our family and friends with our endless supply of christmas cash, and smiling at each other all day as we soak in the wonder of all the hustle and bustle of the season, while Matt & I sneak in a Christmas kiss here and there just because we love each other so much. (All of this happeneing in slow motion, of course.)
Then this fleeting dream left me, and I realized that piling in the car together would actually involve about 10 minutes of glee and excitement, followed by hours of tired, complaining boys (husband included) asking when we're going to be done, Matt & me skipping lunch and coffee to salvage the change for an incredibly tight Christmas budget, standing in a half hour McDonald's line so the kids won't starve to death, splitting up for the sake of time, mis-communicating the meeting place, spending an hour trying to find each other, then sulking and arguing all the way home about who was right...that was last year.
So, this year I opted to go alone. Matt watched football while the boys rode bikes with the neighbors and jumped on the trampoline. Wilson got a great nap, and I got it all done in two days. Everyone was happy. It was easy and wonderful. And somehow I still kind of miss last year...

I like the Christmas picture. It is so much better than the one we are sending, because we are not sending one at all. We got a tiny bit of Christmas shopping done yesteday, but I have a lot more to go. Do you want to go to the mall with me tomarrow night after my meeting? Maybe you and I can sneak in some Christmas kisses ha ha. I'm sick, I know, but I had to say it. What's wrong with me?
I love it! That's awesome!
We are not doing Christmas cards this year either... I am such a slacker when it comes to those! Every year I think, ok- I'll do it this year... and I don't. What the heck is my problem people? LOL
Oh yeah... I totally agree with ya about the Christmas shopping adventures. I've still got lots more to go- I'm jealous that you knocked it out! :)
Michelle...Girl, you can sneak me as many Christmas kisses as you would like...as long as they're the kind with the little silver wrappers on them. That would make it way less wierd, don't ya think?
Oh, and I wrote this song for you..."Be weird Michelle, Be weird, Michelle. Your weirdness is to us our good."
(Sung to the tune of Be near, Oh God)
And it it true! I Love your weirdness!
You guys make me laugh! That's good! Love the picture too. We (or I...since X could care less) am hoping to at least do the picture postcards...no homemade cards this year...not in the mood!
The Christmas shopping trip sounds like what mine would be like if my family went with me! Cute pic for the card...very true to life.
I love the picture. I can't figure out whats different - ya'll look pretty normal to me :)
I guess I'm not as smart as everyone else. I don't know how to put pictures on my blog. Help me?
