the Big Top and a Sparkly Naked Bottom

I had forgotten how much I loved the circus! Last night we had free tickets to one at the BJCC. We had an awesome time. Our view was similar to that from a helicopter, and just as far away, but it was perfect for us. Our kids don't know the difference. They've never been to the circus, so had no experience to compare it to. We were so far away, though, that Elliot leaned over and asked me if the horses were real!! I guess they looked like toys to him. Wilson just kept asking when the giraffes were coming out. He apparently thought we were at the zoo. Anderson's really the only one who didn't miss a beat, and soaked it all in .
The bad news is our "free" night at the circus ended up costing 30 bucks by the time we paid for Happy meals on the way, parking, cotton candy (a must have at the circus) and one drink we could all 5 share. But it was SO worth it!
My favorite part was watching the kids' faces while it all happened out there. Everything is basically a spot-lit side show while the "real" event like the tigers, were getting set up underneath the clowns on the tight rope. I remember thinking the same exact thing when I was a kid, when the lights came up..."Wow! Where did those tigers come from??" The boys were amazed.
One complaint I did have however, was the "pole lady" as I'll call her. She climbed to the top of a huge pole, and would lean over and sway it from side to side, you know what I'm talking about?
Anyway, her unbelievably tight outfit was skin colored and sparkly (you all know where this is going) Her pole was right in front of us and she of, course, was facing the other way, but had to bend WAY over, many many times to accomplish her amazing tricks. All of my boys (including my husband) could not take their little eyes off this particular event. Elliot kept asking, "Mommy, is that a naked bottom?" I just finally told him it wasn't just any naked bottom, it was a sparkly one!!! What can I say? I was wondering the exact same thing myself!

Hey girl, we recently went to the circus too! It was lots of fun. Our tickets were free too - but our seats were better then yours:) Thanks for a good laugh today. Did you get my message about March? Aly

Yes! Matt called me yesterday from work to say that's cool! He said he'll take off whatever days needed so he can hang out too. Yay! Why don't you email with the your travel schedule and I'll forward it to Matt. That's the easiest way to get him at his calendar! My new email is abbeygore@yahoo.com. Can't wait to see ya'll! Should I get a sitter for the night so we can go eat??

That is sooo funny about the sparkly woman. We went on Thursday night and have had many conversations about how wonderful it was, but how the women were just not dresses right. Both the boys want me to explain why anyone in their right mind would wear that. I didn't see them looking the other way, though.

I volunteer to babysit if you need it. Micah would be in heaven.
