Memorial Day

I miss my mom today. She was so patriotic. And she loved American flags. She hung them on the outside of every house we moved to, which was A LOT! One of the first things she did every time we moved into a new place was hang up the flag. I loved that. It was sort of like a sign to me that we were settling in.

I don't hang a flag up. It actually makes me sad. (And so do aprons and Dorothy Hammel haircuts and suburbans) They all remind me of my mom.

But even though there's no flag outside my door, I still remembered and prayed for our troops today... past and present.

Hope you did too.

Peace, Love, and all that Jazz.

That was really nice Abbey.
Keep posting those memories of your sweet Mom. It is a wonderful tribute and I think we all love to read about them.

what a sweet post. Your mom's Dorothy Hammel haircut looked better her than even Dorothy Hammel!

I still can't watch Nascar to this day because it makes me miss my dad.

So I shed a tear tonight. Reading you mention suburbans got me in the gut, really. There maybe some women out there in the world that are similiar to your mom but I have not met one yet.
The plethora of X-mas trees, a set of plates for every occasion, the suburban, her laugh, her laugh, her short-ness, her mischief. (OK, now I am trying to be silly so that we will laugh and not cry.) BTW, I thought this year about what Memorial Day is about more then probably any other year.

Aw, Abbey that was sweet about your mom. I think about her every once in a while which in turn makes me think of you and wonder how you are doing. I love what Aly said about her mischief - she was mischievious especially at school! :)
